You will grow and lead a team of engineers aiming at adapting our products to automotive and industrial requirements. You will represent Canonical and Ubuntu in the industrial and automotive community and standards consortia. You and your team will ensure our Linux distribution and products, as well as ways of working, support standards addressing processes, cyber-security and safety concerns described by IEC 61508, ISO 9001 and Automotive-specific ISO 21434, UNECE R155 & R156, ISO 26262 ASIL (from B to D) or ASPICE. You will help enhance delivery quality, security and developer experience, and lead strategy and execution with your team. You will report to the Vice President of Engineering Excellence and work closely with the Automotive Product Manager to define and execute a vision and roadmap for : Globally remote roleWhat you’ll doWork with Product Management to refine the vision and strategy for automotive at CanonicalDefine and execute an engineering roadmap for the automotive team at CanonicalRepresent Ubuntu and Canonical in the automotive community, in front of customers, partners and consortiaLead our Linux distribution and open source software strategy in AutomotiveBuild and lead a globally distributed team of engineers and coordinate, guide and oversee their workDevelop skills through coaching, feedback and hands-on technical leadershipSet and manage expectations with other engineering teams, senior management, and external stakeholdersAdvocate and advance modern, agile software development practicesHelp develop and evangelize strong engineering and organizational practicesGrow a healthy, collaborative engineering culture in line with the company valuesWork from home with international travel twice a year, up to two weeks at a time, for company eventsWho you areYou have a strong software engineering, Linux, and open source backgroundYou have in-depth knowledge of Linux packages and embedded developmentYou have knowledge of automotive and industry standards such as ISO21434, ISO26262, SOTIF, IEC 61508, and ideally have led product development initiatives that fulfilled compliance with one or more of the mentioned standardsYou have experience in C/C++ and Python programmingYou have practical experience in automotive, including functional safety, embedded systems, cloud and related software trendsYou have experience leading, managing, coaching and mentoring software developersYou have a track record of timely delivery and high-quality softwareYou love developing and growing people and have a track record of doing itYou have experience working in an agile development environmentWhat we offer youYour base pay will depend on factors including geographical location, experience, knowledge and skills.
